App Start-Up & UIUX Case Study
Here is a product that uses technology to help seniors improve their quality of life, and to develop a warm and fun experience for the whole family of yours.
Position: Personal Project
Background
// Overview: The Poor Communication
After we become adults, especially after working, the "real communication" with our parents seems to be decreasing. As an international student from Asia, I always experience that my parents clearly want to show their love and care, but actually, send me a bunch of unrelated messages. Sometimes, it's even easy to argue with them over different values before we say a few words to them.
Therefore, I decided to design “Here”, a social software with very unique communication method to alleviate the problems and conflicts between adult children and their parents that are living long distances.
// Target User Group
Adult children and parents who have communication problems due to geographic separation.
¹ Tensions in the Parent and Adult Child Relationship, US National Library of Medicine
² OnePoll Market research
// Current Situation
Through browsing social software and web forums, I found that the problem of poor family communication occurs to varying degrees in both Asian cultures and Western cultures represented by the United States. There are also a large number of parents and adult children who are aware of this problem.
